Shoppers' delight
Article Abstract:
Joey Kaempfer, chief executive of property developer BAA McArthur Glen, is positive that retail shopping outlets will become very popular in the United Kingdom. Kaempfer, who aims to install factory outlets in France, Germany and Britain, spends many hours travelling and working in America and Europe. He and his team have found it difficult to set up outlets in Europe because of the preferred methods of traditional shopping. Kaempfer is interested in active sports such as skiing.

Retaining the whip in retirement
Article Abstract:
Ex managing partner of Healey and Baker, John Wills, is retiring to the countryside to compete in cross-country pony-and-carriage competitions and some consultancy work. British town centres will remain the core of the community provided that the local authority can fund extra parking and management, says Wills. Retailers are expanding into Europe to achieve a larger customer base, although some changes will have to be made to accommodate national differences.
