Silver screens line up
Article Abstract:
Retail development in Leeds, England, is very buoyant with some well-known companies moving into the city but further expansion to the number of shops is hampered by the lack of adequate space. Leisure developers hope to create a centre by the canal which will combine residential property, offices and restaurants. A multiplex cinema with added recreational facilities such as a bowling alley is planned for the west of the city. Several other multiplex cinemas are at the planning stage although some observers suggest that that supply may outstrip demand.

Pressed for space
Article Abstract:
Some new office construction is planned for the outskirts of Leeds, England, although the area around the city remains underdeveloped as an office location. Some local property agents point out demand for office space in Leeds is likely to slow because businesses find it difficult to relet their old buildings. The quality of office buildings in the city centre is poor, with little large space available. Some local agents suggest the economic slow down in the UK will not reduce demand for offices in Leeds.

Just what the doctor ordered
Article Abstract:
BT has decided to use a site currently occupied by the former St Faiths Hospital in Brentwood, England, for its latest office development. It plans to submit a planning application by Christmas 1996, with development beginning in early 1997. Funding for the development has not yet been arranged, and it is not likely to be completed before summer 1998 at the earliest. BT chose Brentwood because many of its existing employees already live in Essex.
