The City as temptress
Article Abstract:
Investors from the Middle East and Europe are becoming more interested in the City of London, England. Funds are having to operate in a stable market therefore they are having to look at investments with more risk, to maximise their profits. Local property agents point out investors from the US are prepared to purchase property worth 100 million pounds sterling. Private investors are also investing in the City investment market, as the cost of borrowed money decreases and interest rates fall. Some 2.4 billion pounds sterling of investment deals have been carried out in Jan-Sept 1999.

Shed that negative thinking
Article Abstract:
Investment funds have been careful to invest in retail warehouse sites which have A1 (non-food) planning permission as these allow the sale of a wider range of goods. The funds have now begun to accept sites which have restricted permission. Obtaining permission to sell food allows supermarkets to operate but this is not usually given. Investment funds need to examine carefully the wording on planning documentation to find out if it stipulates what can be sold or merely outlines what cannot be sold. The latter is more favourable as it allows greater scope.
