The Strategic art of the deal: SS's 1997 top 10
Article Abstract:
Site Selection's 1997 top facility location deals from four continents reveal billion-dollar investments, multimillion-dollar incentives and canny facility location strategy. Although these top 10 deals have shown that there is no perfect deal-making mode, they have provided lessons on how businesses are handling their major expansions and where they are heading. Included in these 10 deals are Seattle, WA-based Amazon, Decatur, AL-based Boeing, Chysler Corporation of Toledo, OH, and Gateway 2000 of Salt lake City, UT.

Article Abstract:
Site Selection's 1998 Business Climate survey contained four new measures that surprisingly showed the stellar efforts of many states in attracting business relocation. These measures include the three year total of new facilities, the total of new facilities in relation to the proportion of residents and the number of new facilities based on area. These new measures showed that many of the former economically unattractive states have radically reformed their image to become the new magnets for investments.
