Top firms leave the rest behind
Article Abstract:
The top 100 chartered surveying firms in the UK achieved turnover of 936 million pounds sterling in 1997, up by 21% from 1996. However, there was considerable variation in performance between individual firms. Four companies achieved profits of more than 5 million pounds sterling each, while almost half of the leading 100 firms saw profits of less than 500,000 pounds sterling each. The leading nine firms accounted for 47% of total earnings for the top 100 chartered surveying firms. However, there is still potential for smaller, specialized companies.

Dreams are made of this
Article Abstract:
A number of surveyors, working in UK firms, received large sums of money as the result of merger payouts. It is anticipated a number of the recipients will retire whilst others may choose to set up new companies some time in the future. They all need advice from specialists in investment and tax to ensure they maximize their investments and avoid inheritance tax liabilities. Some of the surveyors may choose to move to bigger houses or make luxury purchases.
