Article Abstract:
In celebration of Mothers' Day, a photo essay is presented of Philadelphia chefs and their mothers. Franca and Adelina DiRenvo of Tre Scalini have worked together in Franca's restaurant since it opened in 1989, and Jake's chef Bruce Cooper thanks his mother Helen for getting him into the restaurant business.

The history of the Liberty Bell, which is now stored in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA, is traced. It was forged, mended and remelted several times, but remains an important symbol of freedom.
