The one thing I'm glad I left behind
Article Abstract:
Hurricane Katrina was headed for New Orleans and it would be without power and electricity for days, which meant evacuation of the place for safety. Essentials were needed to be gathered - food, water, clothing and other things, however one needed to choose wisely as to what stayed behind and what was to be taken, and after the storm, it is found that there is no fear, which had taken too much control of one's life pre-Katrina.

Mother Nature's wrath
Article Abstract:
Preparations for Hurricane Katrina were routine, as such one could go to bed the night before without giving it a second thought. However when the day dawned it was horrifying and one hopes that one never has to see it again for the rest of the life though the whole experience has brought about new appreciation for all the things life has blessed one with.

Stain
Article Abstract:
Experiences of one's stepfather diagnosed with bone cancer, his surgery and the airlifting of the family during Katrina are shared. The stain on the carpet of the airport brings up memories of him being laid on the luggage belt before being flown to safety.
