A Panther set to bite back
Article Abstract:
Many people now believe that Elmer Pratt, the then leader of the Los Angeles Black Panther Party who has jailed for murder in 1972, is innocent. It is believed that he was framed by the FBI, and that he was the victim of political moves to quash the Black Panther Party, which aimed to promote equality for blacks through violent revolution. Moves now being undertaken to have him released could have serious political implications in the run-up to the presidential election.

'Double curse' awaiting murder case woman
Article Abstract:
Briton Caroline Beale has now been released on bail in the US on charges of second degree murder of her newborn child. The prosecution claims that she acted in full awareness of what she was doing, showing indifference to the life of her child. Her defence is that she was suffering from mental illness during her pregnancy, believing that her child had died in the womb. This will be hard to establish, as the hormones which caused the illness will no longer be present.

Blood ties
Article Abstract:
The residents of the quiet, run-down town of Murray, KY, have been greatly shocked by the emergence of a group of around 30 teenage vampires. Five of these self-proclaimed vampires are already in prison, accused of murdering a middle-aged couple from Eustis, FL. Among the accused is their daughter, the only member of the vampire group not to come from Murray. The town's residents are generally deeply religious, and regard the devil as a real and powerful force.
