Child lama breathes new life into Buddhism
Article Abstract:
The enthronement of four-year-old Ugyen Tendzin Jigme Lhundrup as the reincarnation of the great lama Khyentse Rinpoche, one of the teachers of the Dalai Lama, attracted 15,000 people. There were lamas from the four traditions of Tibetan Buddhism present, along with 1,500 foreigners from 52 countries. Buddhism is facing great challenges in Tibet, where Chen Kui Jan, the Communist Party's leading figure, is trying to re-educate monks. However, it is thriving in Nepal.

There's no hiding from fame
Article Abstract:
Some celebrities deliberately reject their status, refusing to give interviews or to pose for photographs. In a way, this attitude only serves to gain them more attention. Some, such as US novelist Thomas Pynchon, go even further, and hide themselves away completely. Giving in to the demands of celebrity is regarded as a type of surrender, and some celebrities believe that the only way to ensure that they yield nothing of importance is to yield nothing at all.
