A citizen of Europe first, British second
Article Abstract:
The UK has very strong cultural and commercial links with continental Europe, but there main deep political differences between the two sides. All continental European countries are basically republics, even those which have a royal family, and they have written constitutions. In contrast, power in the UK is focused on the House of Commons, and the government has been very unwilling to make steps towards political integration. It is now vital for the UK to become an integral part of a powerful Europe.

Is the British Museum losing its marbles?
Article Abstract:
The British Museum attracts 6 million visitors a year, but seems to be greatly undervalued by the UK government, which has decided to reduce the state's annual contribution to the museum's running costs by 15% in real terms over the next few years. The institution has secured National Lottery funding for a large building scheme, but is still lacking vital funds for day-to-day operations. It may have to react by making extensive redundancies and introducing an admission charge.
