A decisive week with no clear outcome
Article Abstract:
Recent developments in international involvement in the civil war in Bosnia can be seen as a turning point, but it is not yet clear whether the outcome will be positive or negative. Observers still point out that the international approach to the issue is very uncoordinated, and this can be exploited by all the warring factions in the Balkans. The most significant recent event has been the taking of hostages by the Bosnian Serbs, indicating the vulnerability of international forces.

The Krajina dentist and the painful truth
Article Abstract:
Milan Babic, self-styled 'prime minister' of the Krajina Serbs, has until recently been extremely confident. However, the region is now facing a sustained onslaught from Croat forces, and Babic is aware that he will probably be unable to call on any outside help. Serbia is only likely to respond if the Krajina Serbs are subjected to a long period of attack from the Croats.

Croats set Serb 'capital' ablaze
Article Abstract:
Thousands of refugees have fled from the town of Knin, the breakaway capital of the Krajina region, as Croatia makes a very strong attempt to regain control of the area. There has also been fighting elsewhere, and in a number of cases Croats fired on United Nations peacekeepers. Nato has threatened to launch air strikes if peacekeepers come under further attack.
