A dream that will not fade
Article Abstract:
The Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN, where Dr Martin Luther King Jr was shot dead on Apr 4, 1968, should not have been made into a tourist attraction, according to Jacqueline Smith. The motel was closed down in Jan 1988 in order to convert it into a $9 million museum, and she was subsequently forcibly removed from her room there, where she had been living for 11 years. Her furniture was placed on the pavement outside, and she has been living there ever since. She feels that making the motel into a tourist attraction is an insult to the memory of Martin Luther King.

Strange objects of desire
Article Abstract:
An exhibition currently being held at the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery traces the history of fetishism. It links objects from many different cultures, and includes many not usually associated with the modern view of fetishism. Its approach is unusual and refreshing, moving away from the power to shock which is usually associated with fetishism.
