A land without borders
Article Abstract:
The French Basque region of the Pyrenees is less industrialised and less politically oriented than the Spanish Basque region. The farmhouses in the Labourd area are huge, with the houses traditionally home to extended families and animals. The well-preserved Basque village of Sare contains some houses dating from the 17th century, together with chapels and a church. The village of Ascain is elegant, while St-Pee-Sur-Nivelle and Espelette have the traditional white and red houses of the Basque region.

The land of the Philistines
Article Abstract:
The Zionist movement originally developed in opposition to a form of religious Judaism which emphasised the virtues of a diaspora existence. Today, there are clear signs that efforts are being made to reverse Zionism's definition of the key elements of Judaism. This could have a significant impact on developments within Israel, on Israel's relations with the Arabs and on Israeli views of the territorial aspects of 'the Jewish State.'
