A man in the next bed is not therapeutic
Article Abstract:
Sexual attacks and rapes on women by men patients in mixed psychiatric wards are increasing and is leading to concern about the wisdom of continuing with the practice. For over 20 years it has been considered that the use of mixed wards has a therapeutic value, being more like real life. The charity Mind has started a campaign aimed at getting a review of the policy. Although police are convinced rapes are occurring, the cases are not taken to court as the evidence from a woman suffering from a psychiatric disorder would be easily discredited.

Why didn't anybody tell Elizabeth?
Article Abstract:
Victims of rape, manslaughter, child abuse and child abduction are often not informed when the criminal responsible is released from prison. Life sentences are rare, so these criminals threaten the lives of their victims again. They trace them through social security information, women's refuge hostels and other sources. The families involved often have to move, change identities and live in isolation. The 'Victim's Charter' does not include the right to be informed of early release by the Parole Board.
