A new editor? Now that's front-page news
Article Abstract:
The traditional Brecon & Radnor Express and Powys County Times has had several changes since the front page began to hold news instead of advertisements in 1990. The editor Edward Griffiths retired in 1993 after 34 years as editor and 52 years on the paper. The paper, which was founded in 1889 in support of the Liberal Party, is no longer owned by the founding family but by a new company Powys Newspaper Ltd. Layout and production are computerised. The paper publishes sober local stories.

But is she a 'New Yorker?' (Tina Brown, new editor of the magazine 'New Yorker' in 1992)
Article Abstract:
'New Yorker' magazine has hardly changed in its 67 years, but came under new ownership in 1985 when it was sold to Advance Communications, run by S.I. Newhouse Jnr, who also own 'Vanity Fair.' William Shawn was editor for 35 years until Mr Newhouse replaced him with Robert Gottlieb in 1987. The magazine has lost a lot of advertising since 1979, 20% in 1991. The magazine has an older readership and is known for literary fiction, criticism, and non-fiction.

A dust-brown city, half as old as time
Article Abstract:
The Mese Verde National Park is situated in a region of Colorado which was colonised by nomadic Indians in around 600AD. It now has 94 excavated Indian sites, including Spruce Tree House, which sits in a deep natural alcove and has more than 100 rooms. Visitors can see many traces of early Indian settlements, one of the most impressive of which is the well preserved Cliff Palace.
