Just say No to this agonising aunt
Article Abstract:
Agony aunt Marje Proops, who died recently, was extremely influential as the first person in her position to openly discuss sensitive moral and social issues. There now seems to be a backlash emerging against such openness, with some observers commenting that the growing incidence of family breakdown and child abuse makes it necessary to return to a much stricter moral climate. This is reflected in the appointment as agony aunt of The Telegraph of Anne Atkins, an evangelical vicar's wife who holds extremely traditional moral views.

The run-down estate we're in
Article Abstract:
Many poor people in the UK feel completely abandoned by politicians. For this reason, they do not see why they should vote in the forthcoming general election. They are often forced to claim welfare benefits unlawfully, and are very cynical about the prospects for finding well-paid employment. Politicians make rash promises about helping the poor, but in practice they are unwilling to introduce really effective measures for fear of alienating the wealthy.
