A prize shames the world into action
Article Abstract:
The international community has done very little to prevent the Indonesian military from perpetuating famine, war and disease in East Timor. Indeed, Indonesia has been able to consolidate its position in East Timor, which has only around 850,000 residents, by encouraging around 100,000 Javanese people to settle there. However, this may change following the decision by the Nobel Committee to award the 1996 Nobel Peace Prize to Bishop Belo and Jose Ramos Horta, who are campaigning for justice in East Timor.

Exam tips for parents
Article Abstract:
Parents can find it very difficult to cope with children who are taking examinations. The child may be very uncommunicative and short-tempered, may have difficulty sleeping and may have many fears. The best approach for a parent is simply to absorb this behaviour with as little comment as possible. It is important to try to be supportive, but equally important not to interfere. The child should be reminded that there always options, whatever the outcome of the examinations.
