A seriously funny writer
Article Abstract:
Playwright Tony Kushner regards himself as a comic writer. He enjoys the way humour creates a community in an audience very rapidly. He is also strongly aware of humour's other purposes, including focusing the audience's attention. He has enjoyed the success of his two-part epic 'Angels in America,' but also feels that anonymity is very valuable for a writer. He is concerned that his future plays will be produced simply because of the popularity of 'Angels in America,' even if they are not very good.

At last! Exclusive! What really killed off 'This Life.' By the writer many blame
Article Abstract:
The third series of the cult television programme 'This Life' was cancelled because producer Tony Garnett believed that all the experimental reasons for its existence were no longer valid, according to playwright Mark Ravenhill. There has been extensive criticism of Ravenhill, who was writing this series, but he does not feel that he was responsible for the programme's demise. The BBC wanted the third series to be very similar to the second, but Garnett was not really convinced by this approach.

'My life was a voyage with Dr Who. Then the Tardis turned to cardboard.' (playwright Mark Ravenhill tells of obsession with television series 'Dr Who')(Revelations)
Article Abstract:
Becoming disillusioned with the television series 'Dr Who' in 1981 at the age of 15 was an important part of growing up, according to playwright Mark Ravenhill. He had been obsessed with the series from an early age, possibly because there was very little excitement in the town where he grew up. He felt that there was a gap in his life after he became disillusioned with 'Dr Who,' so turned increasingly to adult fiction. However, selling his 'Dr Who' memorabilia was quite painful.
