Blair stops the dithering over the dome
Article Abstract:
UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has resolved uncertainty about the future of the planned Millennium Exhibition in Greenwich, London, England, by stating that the project will go ahead after all. It had seemed very likely that the project would be dropped, especially after it proved hard to raise funds from the private sector. The overall budget will be 850 million pounds sterling, with the National Lottery contributing 450 million pounds sterling. It is hoped that the development will attract around 30,000 visitors a day, each paying 20 pounds sterling.

Back on the straight and narrow
Article Abstract:
The UK's transport policy has for many years been characterised by a focus on the need to build more roads. However, the recent decision to drop plans to widen part of the M25 to 14 lanes may herald a new era in transport policy. Transport planners have started to realise that it would be impossible to build enough new roads to cope with the predicted rise in traffic, and alternative solutions will now have to be considered.
