Admiral Otto Kretschemer
Article Abstract:
Admiral Otto Kretschemer was a German submarine commander in the 1939-1945 war. He served in the German navy in the years prior to 1939 protecting the interests of General Franco during the civil war in Spain. He sought to sink merchant ships in the 1939-1945 war, and was disciplined, unlike Hermann Goering, who ranked second in wartime Germany, and looted works of art. He was one of the few commanders of U-boats who survived the war, and he later returned to the navy until his retirement in 1970.
