Airbus set to 'out show' Boeing
Article Abstract:
Airbus, the European aerospace consortium and Boeing, the US aerospace company look set to contend against each other for control of the worldwide aircraft market. The two companies are expected to announce orders with a value of up to US$ 8.7bn at the Farnborough airshow. The two will attempt to outdo the other by declaring high-profile deals. Airbus will announce its deal with the UAE for 20 of its A340's large jet planes. Some 30 cargo jets are also being sold to UPS, the US mail delivery company in a deal worth US$ 2.7bn. Boeing will retaliate by announcing deals worth US$ 3bn including a large body contract for 777s with a US carrier. A deal for Boeing's 100 seater plane is also a possibility to which Airbus will retort to by declaring its own plans for a 100-seater craft. Major European carriers are also set to take several of Boeing's 737's. The news comes as it emerged that the transformation of Airbus into one single standalone company is to be delayed due to technical problems. The situation has cast doubts as to whether Airbus will become a single entity by the deadline of January 01 1999.

In a deeper vein
Article Abstract:
The village of Roquefort, France, has little of any real interest above ground. However, below ground it has a large network of naturally vented caves where the famous Roquefort cheese has been produced for generations. The underground system is divided between 12 autonomous producers and contains many thousand maturing cheeses. Visitors can experience all stages of the cheese production process, and can also visit other villages in the region, including La Couvertoirade.
