Alan asked Yvonne to marry him, kissed her, then shouted: 'No Surrender!' (new image for Northern Ireland's Orange Order)
Article Abstract:
Northern Ireland's Protestant Orange Order has adopted a new image over recent years. Its senior members claim that it has naturally evolved with time, while some observers believe that its new image is merely a facade and that it is still committed to maintaining Protestant supremacy. The Orange Order is still widely regarded as a strange anachronism, but it has shown that it can be a potent political force, being determined to uphold what it regards as its rights.

The student hostel that became a torturers' den
Article Abstract:
Nato troops have uncovered evidence that the Serb special police tortured ethnic Albanians in a room underneath a former student hostel in Pristina, Kosovo, Yugoslavia. Local people report that large numbers of people, including women and teenagers, were taken into the building. Very few returned, and sometimes bodies were brought out. Investigators for the International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands, are now examining the evidence.
