An illusion of honour
Article Abstract:
Some observers are beginning to question whether the D-Notice Committee, the system by which newspapers and the media in the UK are informed about what they should not make public in the interests of national security, remains feasible. This arrangement is supposed to be voluntary, but this may be little more than an illusion, given that it is backed by the Official Secrets Act and, in certain cases, a specific court order. It is possible that the D-Notice system should be abandoned altogether if it has moved from being voluntary to being coercive.

Adoption fight 'nearly destroyed us.'
Article Abstract:
Couples trying to adopt a child in the UK can encounter significant difficulties. Social workers and other professionals may have negative attitudes, and the adoption process can be extremely lengthy and emotionally challenging. The length of time taken to adopt a child can mean that some children spend many years being moved between residential or foster homes, missing out on the security of living with a permanent family. Furthermore, there are significant differences between the adoption practices of different local authorities.
