The truth is that science is boring to schoolchildren
Article Abstract:
Science is gaining a high profile in the UK, with many people enjoying science-related books and television programmes. However, there are still significant problems associated with the teaching of science in schools. The main difficulty is that science is largely a method, rather than just a group of facts. Really learning science involves undertaking experiments and becoming aware that results are inevitably unpredictable. This is more challenging than merely reading books and learning facts, and this is why few young people are interested in studying science subjects at an advanced level.

And a bank holiday weekend like this, or like that
Article Abstract:
Volunteers throughout the United Kingdom are recording events, such as when migratory birds arrive, which are signs that indicate the impact of global warming. The Department of the Environment will publish the results of these measurements. The government has raised the cost of fuel in a bid to tackle the greenouse effect, and this has led to protests. Most people are unaware of the seriousness of the problem, and unwilling to change their behavior. The graudal warming of the planet is not noticed because there has been no rapid change.

A storm rages in the Death Zone
Article Abstract:
It was a mistake to allow a photo agency to have photos of the body of George Mallory, who died on an expedition to the summit of Everest in Jun 1924, according to climber and geologist Jochen Hemmleb, who led an expedition to find Mallory's body. He regrets the fact that the photos were published in a tabloid newspaper, but feels that taking photos was vital for proving that Mallory's body had been found. He emphasizes that Mallory's possessions were returned to his family and that his body was buried with respect.
