Anarchy stalks Albanian cities as cheated investors vent fury in orgy of destruction
Article Abstract:
The collapse of three of Albania's so-called pyramid investment schemes has led to extensive rioting and violence, and the country now seems in danger of descending into complete anarchy. President Sali Berisha has been unable to restore order, and it has been necessary to bring in troops to guard roads and government buildings. Protesters are calling for the immediate resignation of the government, an unusual move in a country where there is extensive government repression.

Gay murder incites fear and fury
Article Abstract:
The murder of Matt Shepard, a gay student of political science at the University of Wyoming, by two men who apparently resented the fact that he made a pass at them in a bar has greatly shocked fellow students at the university. There is widespread fear in the gay community that other attacks may follow, and gay and civil rights groups across the US have emphasized the murder as a reflection of widespread intolerance towards homosexuals.
