Art, glamour and sexy men
Article Abstract:
Many Americans were greatly in awe of Paris, France, in the 1950s, according to writer Irma Kurtz, who set sail for Europe from Manhattan harbour in Jun 1953 at the age of 17. She undertook a short European study tour, and later returned to live permanently in Europe, first in Paris and then in the UK. She found the UK rather tired and grey, but was extremely impressed by Paris. However, she later found that she could not settle down properly to life in Paris.

The Balkan bogeyman with too few friends
Article Abstract:
Bosnian president Alija Izetbegovic has had associations with Muslim organisations throughout his life, and at one point served a prison sentence for alleged pro-Islamic activities. He is respected for his determination and honesty, but is also feared because he is extremely shrewd. He has struggled to establish a balance of power among political forces in Bosnia, and is now having to stand firm against encroachment from all sides.
