Balfour Beatty pulls out of Turkish dam project
Article Abstract:
UK construction firm Balfour Beatty has decided not to participate in the 2 billion pounds sterling Ilisu dam scheme in Turkey. The company stated that the scheme does not fulfill its environmental, ethical or commercial criteria. The dam would totally cover the town of Hasankeyf, seen as a very significant historial site for Turkey's Kurdish population.
