Bernard's big obsession
Article Abstract:
Bernard Lavery has won many world records with his enormous vegetables, and devotes all his waking hours to this business. He sells seeds from his prize-winning vegetables to many garden centres, and believes that these seeds offer considerable potential for farmers, especially in developing countries. He now acts as a judge at many horticultural shows, and is happy to give advice to others wanting to grow large vegetables.

The agony and ecstasy of a city on edge
Article Abstract:
The city of Newcastle, England, has extremely close ties with its football team. Many thousands of people attend matches at the team's ground, which is right in the centre of the city, and there are no divided loyalties because, unlike in some other cities, there are no other teams to support. The emotional and economic state of the city is very much bound up with the fortunes of its football team.
