Tragedy of the Stepford children
Article Abstract:
Students at some schools in wealthy, upper class areas in the US are placed under very strong pressure to achieve. Some schools expect students to sit tests and complete a great deal of homework from an early age. The pressure becomes even greater when students enter high school at 14, when every activity seems to be designed with the aim of producing an acceptable CV. It has become common for students to attempt suicide, and in a growing number of cases suicide bids are successful.
