Bigotry keeps fear alive in divided streets
Article Abstract:
Life in Northern Ireland isgenerally calmer and more relaxed as the ceasefire continues to hold, and this is particularlymarked in Belfast, where people now mix freely. Most security barricades have been removed, and people can work and shop much more easily. However, there are still problems in thehardline ghettos, where unemployment remains high and many young men are in prison. Belfastis still divided by large peaceline walls, and some people believe that these will never becompletely eliminated.

Mother waits in torment for the body of her 'wee boy.'
Article Abstract:
The Irish Republican Army (IRA) killed Brian McKinney when he was 22-years-old for apparently using an IRA gun for a robbery in 1978. Diggers are searching for the body, and the victim's mother is awaiting its return. The victim had told his mother of the robbery, and the money he stole was returned. He had developmental problems which affected both his physical stature and his mental abilities. The IRA has confessed to his murder and this has given some comfort to his mother.
