Blood wedding
Article Abstract:
There has been considerable controversy in Pakistan as a result of the reaction of the families of Khanwar Ahsan, a clerk from Karachi, Pakistan, and Riffat Afridi, the daughter of a Pathan tribal chief, to their elopement and secret marriage. Both are Muslims and citizens of the province of Sind, but their family backgrounds are very different. Both families have opposed their marriage, and it is claimed that Afridi's family have even hired professional killers to hunt the couple down. This case has captured public attention in Pakistan because it highlights the forces that threaten to tear Pakistani society apart.

British slaughter that the Indians helped cover up
Article Abstract:
It has not been widely known until recently that British troops massacred freedom fighters at Palchitaria, India, on Mar 7, 1922. The news of this event did not travel very far at all, unlike the massacre by British troops at Jallianwalla Bagh, a park in Amritsar, India, on Apr 6, 1919. Local people in Palchitaria report that British troops reacted very aggressively towards a rally of 10,000 people who had gathered to greet Motilal Tejawat, a former spice trader from Udaipur, India.

The great escape
Article Abstract:
Sir Terence Conran's new Mezzo development, which includes two large restaurants, a coffee shop, a bakery and live music, is likely to be extremely successful. British people are not usually great food experts, and do not really expect very high standards. However, they are very keen on eating out. They enjoy restaurants mainly because they offer an escape from everyday life, not because they necessarily offer high quality food.
