Children of the peace prefer to look forward
Article Abstract:
Most younger Londoners are unenthusiastic about joining in the many VE day celebrations which have been planned there. Outside London, feelings about the celebrations are mixed. Some feel that there is no reason why they should mark the end of the second world war, as they were not involved in it, while others welcome the chance to relax and take part in traditionally British style events. Some see VE day as an important symbol of the wars which are still taking place in many parts of the world.

Diary's ambiguous entries dressed as meat for Operation Cheetah
Article Abstract:
Former Liverpool, England, councillor Derek Hatton was cleared of fraud involving the use of bonb sites as temporary car parks. Merseyside police Operation Cheetah investigated his lifestyle and his Settleside public relations company folded on Oct 26, 1990. Despite his offers of co-operation, Merseyside police obtained 60 search warrants. Only three charges of conspiracy were made. Hatton's diary entries were said to represent payments to councillors Hannah Folan and John Nelson.
