Buyers of PCs get raw deal
Article Abstract:
A report published in 'Which?' magazine produced by the Consumers Association in the UK has discovered the extent to which consumers are facing problems when they purchase home computers and try to use them for the first time. It has been discovered that 20% of people have problem getting a computer to work for the first time, and 40% have problems with the equipment within the first year. The report has also discovered that certain retailers are better at offering advice and support to consumers purchasing a home computer than others. Comet, Currys, Dixons and PC World have been named as having poorly trained staff, and John Lewis has been singled out for praise due to the quality of help offered by its staff. In terms of the best and worst computers the report names Tiny, Time Machines and Hewlett-Packard as being the least reliable, and Dell, Dan, Gateway and Apple performing the best.

Rewards aren't only in Heaven
Article Abstract:
Those planning for retirement should consider paying off their mortgage, as this will significantly reduce their expenditure. Investing for income should be planned on a long-term basis, as many people live for a very long time after they retire. Investments will be determined by the individual's attitude to risk and by the level of income required. It is advisable to retain some money in a building society to cover unexpected expenditure.
