Car retailing
Article Abstract:
The UK car retailing market is undergoing a period of change. The market has been stable for some years, but outside influences, including recession and changing legislation, have introduced the need to examine retailing practices and to fit them more closely to buyers' requirements. Manufacturers are considering restructuring their dealer networks, and new technology, including the Internet, has opened up new possibilities for car retailing. The used car market continues to dominate car retailing, and the concept of huge used car supermarkets looks set to expand.

Utilities retailing
Article Abstract:
Major changes are expected in the structure of electricity and gas supply utilities in the United Kingdom as a result of increased competition and greater consumer choice. There is a need for small gas and electricity retail outlets which are convenient to reach and where customers can pay accounts, get advice on services and look at new products. Companies which do not have retail outlets will find that they cannot sell direct to customers not can they meet them face-to-face.
