Young bear the brunt as Aids spreads through the world on a biblical scale
Article Abstract:
There are now more than 33 million people worldwide infected with Aids, and there are no indications that the spread of the disease is slowing down. The most badly affected region is sub-Saharan Africa, which accounts for 70% of all new infections and 80% of deaths. UNAids, the world Aids campaign, has emphasized that it is vital to invest immediately in HIV prevention. A number of initiatives have already been successful, including the early treatment of sexually transmitted infections with inexpensive antibiotics in Tanzania.
