Article Abstract:
Construction projects in the UK funded by the Millennium Commission must in theory be underway by the year 2000. However, the Millennium Commission has not withdrawn support for any projects that will not achieve this deadline. Instead, it has extended opening dates for schemes as late as 2002 and later. Projects set to be delayed include the National Science Centre in Glasgow, Scotland, the National Space Science Centre in Leicester, England, and the Technopolis in Norwich, England.

Please do not keep off the glass
Article Abstract:
Architect Andy Gollifer designed the National Glass Centre in Sunderland, England, to show how glass can be used in a wide range of settings, including furniture, lighting and decorative arts. Visitors to the centre, which opened in Jun 1998, are particularly keen to walk on the roof, which has been designed to hold up to 14,000 people. The building is deliberately styled to reflect its industrial origins, with features including stone floors and stainless steel vents and ducts.
