The news of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, was greeted with great shock in the US. In particular, many people did not understand the role which may have been played in the accident by photographers seeking to obtain material for tabloid newspapers. Most Americans do not appreciate that tabloid newspapers in the UK have national coverage and that they can have a significant impact on political developments. Furthermore, the concept of monarchy is not widely understood in the US.

Last journey to her place of rest
Article Abstract:
The coffin containing the body of Diana, Princess of Wales, will begin its journey to Westminster Abbey, London, England, at her apartments in Kensington Palace. Vast crowds of people are expected to line the route of the funeral procession, which will take one hour 47 minutes. Prince Charles will join the procession for the final section to the Abbey, possibly accompanied by Princes William and Harry. After the service, the coffin will be taken Althorp House in Northampton.
