Corsicans listen for three words
Article Abstract:
Many observers accuse the French government of having neglected Corsica, being unable to come to terms with the island's dual personality and exaggerating the danger of violent nationalism there. There is strong interest in the forthcoming visit to Corsica of French prime minister Alain Juppe, particularly in whether he will use the phrase 'the Corsican people.' Nationalists see this as a meaningless concession, while non-nationalists view it as a weakness in French government anti-terrorist activities.

Travelling with egalite and fraternite
Article Abstract:
The recent strike by public transport workers in Paris, France, has prompted many changes in the habits of commuters. Parisians tend to lack community spirit, but people have worked very effectively together to overcome the problems caused by the strike. They have been sharing cars, and hitching also became very common. Some people chose to walk or cycle to work, while others took work home. However, fewer than 25% of Paris workers took extra time off work during the strike.
