UK manufacturersE sales amounted to [pounds sterling]2,138 in 1998. LEOreal is the global leader in cosmetics, while Boots holds sway in UK. In the toiletries sector, Unilever and Procter & Gamble are the foremost suppliers. New product developments, driven by fashion and technological change, have boosted the industry. By 2004, sales are expected to rise by 13%, valued at [pounds sterling]4,300mn at current prices.
