Cry: God for Harry! England and Saint who?
Article Abstract:
Most ordinary Britons are completely unmoved by St George's Day, which falls on Apr 23. Indeed, it seems that St George's Day is only really celebrated by right-wing newspaper columnists. Part of the problem with establishing St George's Day in the national consciousness has been that St George is a mythologically vague figure. It seems unlikely that St George will ever act as a strong focus of English qualities. Against this background, it may be appropriate to change the country's patron saint.

Never underestimate a rich man's anger when forced to resign
Article Abstract:
It is likely that Geoffrey Robinson, a former member of UK Chancellor Gordon Brown's Treasury team, will use his autobiography to vent his anger at being forced to resign over his loan to Peter Mandelson. His autobiography may well reveal how many financial favours he did, highlighting the fact that rich men in politics are very risky. It is clear that some politicians have still not learnt the high price attached to taking other people's money.
