DNA links 'Stone Age' tribe to first humans
Article Abstract:
Researchers at Cambridge University, England, have identified DNA evidence connecting the inhabitants of the remote Andaman Islands with the first anatomically modern humans to spread out across Asia. The DNA evidence, obtained from locks of hair taken from the Andamanese just after they were first contacted, shows that the Andamanese do not share their pattern of inheritance with other Asians. Experts believe that the Andamanese are the descendants of the earliest migrations of Homo sapiens out of Africa.
