Whatever happened to green skiing?
Article Abstract:
Many British skiers have little knowledge about the impact of winter sports on the environment. This contrasts sharply with the situation in the early 1990s, when environmental damage caused by skiing was a high-profile issue. Economic pressures in recent years have caused environmental issues related to skiing to become increasingly overlooked. However, poor snow has restricted the number of skiers, and this has prevented ski resorts from expanding too rapidly.

Slope off for the weekend
Article Abstract:
Ski operators are beginning to offer increasingly flexible arrangements. First Choice, for example, now offers Friday night flights, while most operators offering skiing holidays in North America have 10- and 11-night packages. Weekend skiing breaks have become very popular, and some ski operators specialize in this sector of the market. Ski Weekend, for example, offers a three-night trip to a three-star hotel in Chamonix, France, from 369 pounds sterling.
