Derek Salberg
Article Abstract:
Theatre director Derek Salberg followed in his father's footsteps as owner and manager of the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham, England. He was successful in attracting many touring productions to the theatre, and gained a particularly strong reputation for staging excellent pantomimes. He was prepared to offer and accept criticism, and was widely regarded as fair and firm. He also played a role in civic life, and in 1961 received the gold medal of the Birmingham Civic Society.

Peter Dews
Article Abstract:
Actor and director Peter Dews became a Midland Regional Drama Producer for radio and television at the BBC in 1953. He gained extensive experience of staging plays in a television studio, and this was to be of great benefit to him when he worked in the theatre. He staged some Shakespeare plays, and was also involved in productions of plays by Peter Luke, Robert Bolt, Royce Ryton and Jean Anouilh. He is most closely associated with the Old Birmingham Rep.

Gervase Farjeon
Article Abstract:
Theatre director and conference organizer Gervase Farjeon was born in Bucklebury, England, in 1920. He studied at the Architectural Association in London, England, before the second world war. His first professional role was stage-managing 'The Snow Queen' for the Children's Theatre.
