From a top degree to the bottom rung
Article Abstract:
New graduates who do not find suitable work after hundreds of application letters take temporary jobs below their ability. There were 143,000 graduates in 1992, an increase of 6.3% on 1991. A Sussex University Institute of Manpower Studies survey found 17% fewer vacancies in 1992. Less firms attend careers fairs and major companies recruit fewer graduates. Degrees are not rare in the 1990's and many professions have become all-graduate so a degree is a necessity rather than a luxury.

Why four-year-olds are better off in nursery
Article Abstract:
Many reports show that under-fives suffer from starting school, but over 50% of four-year-olds attend schools. There are only nursery places for 1/4 of British children. Infant classes follow the national curriculum, so cannot provide suitable education for four-year-olds. The National Campaign for Nursery Education recommends the Hounslow, London, England system of nursery classes attached to primary schools.
