Don't get the wrong message, Mr Hague
Article Abstract:
The strong performance of the UK Conservative party in the European Parliament elections marks the beginning of the recovery of the centre right. However, party leader William Hague must still exercise caution. He must resist calls from some new MEPs for withdrawal from the European People's Party Group in order to join an alliance with the extreme right. He must also be aware that many ordinary voters are not necessarily hostile towards the euro. The Conservative party must not be seen merely as anti-European, as this would alienate vital voters who seek a positive role for the UK in Europe.

Common sense says William should heal the party's wounds
Article Abstract:
UK Conservative party leader William Hague faces significant challenges. He must revive the morale and unity of the party at a time when the overall political climate is different from any circumstances the Conservative party has faced before in the 20th century. He must challenge and reveal the empty nature of much political debate today if he really is to recreate faith in politics. There is considerable potential for his sort of leadership, which is based on openness and restraint.
