When will we get democracy back in the Labour Party?
Article Abstract:
There is still a significant lack of democracy within the UK Labour party, despite moves to change the composition of the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) to give a higher profile to women. The NEC's policy forums are completely dominated by the party machine, with ordinary members having very little input. If the Labour party fails to gain a second term, then the foundations of its defeat will be traceable back to the decision to deter the party from holding a full debate on economic policy at this stage in its development.

The strange fantasy world of my paranoid party leaders
Article Abstract:
Top officials within the UK Labour party seem to live in a fantasy world. They appear to be obsessed with investigating anybody within the party who opposes their views, and waste a great deal of time and effort on this matter. Most recently, they have decided that the mayor of London, England, when he or she is elected, should not have control of the London Underground. This is a very misguided approach and ignores the obvious truth that no mayor would take the risk of using the London Underground to make a political point.

If I can't be Mayor of London, am I fit to be an MP? Discuss
Article Abstract:
Recent controversy over the selection of the UK Labour party's candidate for mayor of London, England, has highlighted the lack of democracy within the party. Those responsible for the party's administration wish to exert complete control from the centre, and fail to appreciate that ordinary people should be allowed to exercise their democratic rights. These administrators wish to avoid having their activities brought to the attention of Labour party members, particularly if members' rights are at stake.
