Article Abstract:
Cricketer Douglas Wright first played for Kent, England, in 1932 at the age of 17. However, he did not gain a regular place in the team until 1936. He was selected to play against Australia in 1938. He performed particularly well in the tour to Australia in 1946 to 1947. However, after this time he could never be sure of selection. He took 108 wickets in 34 Tests at an average of 39. His first-class record was 2,056 wickets at an average of 23.

Tom Arter

Agricultural engineer, motorcycle dealer and racing sponsor Thomas Arter was born in Barham, England, in 1912. He worked with his brother to build up the agricultural engineering firm founded by their grandfather. He was a co-founder of the Barham Club in 1929.

Motorcycle engineer Doug Hele was born in Birmingham, England, in 1919. He gained an apprenticeship with the Austin Motor Co and in 1945 became a draughtsman with the Douglas company. He later moved to BSA, then the largest motorcycle producer in the UK.
