Dorothy Stroud
Article Abstract:
Museum curator and author Dorothy Stroud began her working life at the age of 20 in the Book Department of Country Life magazine. She began to write after she had been moved to the magazine's Editorial Office. She began to collect material for a life of Capability Brown shortly before the second world war, and in 1941 took up employment in the National Monuments Record. After the second world war, she worked for many years at Sir John Soane's Museum.

Dorothy White
Article Abstract:
Public servant Dorothy White studied Economics at the London School of Economics. She worked in the team that implemented the National Health Service, and from 1951 was involved in maternity and child welfare. She became involved in youth work, teaching and lecturing on management after the birth of her third son in 1958, but in 1966 joined the Dept of Education and Science. She became a management consultant after taking early retirement in 1979.
