Sculptor and teacher Douglas Wain-Hobson was born in Sheffield, England, in 1918. He entered Sheffield College of Art at the age of 14, and in 1938 gained a scholarship to the Royal College of Art in London, England. He gained a sculpture Silver Medal in 1946 and a Rome Scholarship in sculpture in 1947.

Nerys Johnson
Article Abstract:
Artist and curator Nerys Johnson was born in Colwyn Bay, Wales, in 1942. She studied at the Dept of Fine Art at King's College, Durham University, and then gained a Diploma in Education at Newcastle University. She was Keeper of Fine Art at the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle between 1966 and 1970.
