Drivers: prepare for your driest summer yet
Article Abstract:
Some European countries now have stricter legislation on drink driving than the UK, which might also consider lowering the alcohol consumption limit for drivers, with the possibility of alcohol being banned completely. Steve Norris, the UK Roads Minister, however, believes that the attitude of the public to drink driving might be harmed by reducing the limit, emphasising that the number of accidents in which drivers who have been drinking are involved has fallen to about 500 a year in 1996 from 1,500 in the 1980s, with a stable limit of 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

The gangster and the cherub
Article Abstract:
Victorian cemeteries were a clear reflection of the idea that in the midst of life we are in death. The headstones in Victorian cemeteries contain a great deal of information, in sharp contrast with the very short epitaphs favoured nowadays. In some cases, the messages on the headstones are designed to serve as warnings to the living. Victorian cemeteries also reflect the fact that death was an integral element of society in Victorian times. In contrast, most people in modern society try to avoid talking about death or coming into contact with it as much as possible.
